Privacy Policy

LOCAL Fire Pty Ltd ("Local Fire", "we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and disclose your personal information, and how we handle it in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

By using our website or engaging our services, you agree to the handling of your information as described below.

Last updated: 1 August 2026.

The information we collect

We collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for our fire protection and compliance work. This may include:

  • Contact details — your name, email address, phone number, postal or site address, and business or strata scheme name.

  • Enquiry and quote information — the details you provide when you request a quote, ask a question, or contact us by phone, email or through our website.

  • Building and compliance information — information about the buildings and sites we service, including fire safety measures, fire safety schedules, inspection and test results, defect and maintenance records, access details, and other information needed to inspect, certify and lodge your Annual Fire Safety Statement (AFSS).

  • Account and job records — service history, appointment details, correspondence, invoices and payment records, which we hold in our customer relationship management (CRM) system.

  • Website and device information — when you visit our website we may collect technical data such as your IP address, browser type, pages viewed and the date and time of your visit, through cookies and analytics tools (see Cookies and website analytics below).

We generally collect information about individuals who are our clients, strata committee members, strata managers, building owners and occupiers, and the people who contact us. We do not knowingly collect information from residential homeowners as a service line, and we do not collect sensitive information unless it is necessary and you have consented.

How we collect it

We usually collect personal information directly from you — when you call, email, submit a form on our website, request a quote, or engage us for work. We may also collect information from third parties where relevant, such as a strata manager or managing agent acting on a building's behalf, or a building owner arranging access.

Where it is lawful and practicable, you can deal with us anonymously or using a pseudonym — though we generally cannot provide quotes, servicing or certification without your contact and site details.

Why we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiries and provide quotes;

  • schedule, carry out and record fire protection servicing, inspections and repairs;

  • certify fire safety measures and prepare and lodge your Annual Fire Safety Statement with the relevant council or authority;

  • manage our client relationships, bookings, invoicing and payments;

  • keep you informed about compliance obligations, renewals and servicing due dates;

  • improve our website and services; and

  • send you marketing or service updates where you would reasonably expect it or have consented (you can opt out at any time — see below).

Advertising and remarketing

We currently use, or may in future use, third-party advertising and analytics platforms including Google (Google Ads, Google Analytics) and Meta (Facebook and Instagram). These tools may use cookies, pixels and similar technologies to:

  • measure how people find and use our website;

  • report on the performance of our advertising; and

  • show our ads to people who have visited our website or who may be interested in our services (known as remarketing or audience targeting).

These platforms may collect information such as your device and browser data, online activity and, in some cases, aggregated or hashed identifiers. This information is handled under Google's and Meta's own privacy policies. We do not sell your personal information to these platforms.

You can control this tracking through your browser settings, and through:

Disclosing your information

We may disclose personal information to:

  • councils and regulatory authorities, where required to lodge your AFSS or demonstrate compliance;

  • strata managers, owners corporations, building owners and managing agents connected to the building we are servicing;

  • our staff, accredited practitioners and subcontractors, where needed to carry out the work;

  • service providers who support our business, such as our CRM provider, IT and cloud hosting providers, email and communications platforms, accounting and payment providers, and the advertising and analytics platforms described above; and

  • others where you have consented, or where we are required or permitted by law.

We do not sell your personal information.

Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers — including Google, Meta, and certain cloud, CRM and email platforms — store or process data on servers located outside Australia (for example, in the United States). Where we disclose information to these providers, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Storing and securing your information

We hold personal information in our CRM and business systems, and in secure physical and electronic records. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure — including access controls, secure hosting and staff confidentiality obligations. We retain information for as long as needed to provide our services and meet our legal, insurance and record-keeping obligations, after which we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

Direct marketing and opting out

If we send you marketing communications, you can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the message, or by contacting us using the details below. We will action your request promptly. Opting out of marketing will not affect service-related communications about your compliance obligations or existing jobs.

Cookies and website analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to help it function, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use the site. You can disable cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the website may not work as intended if you do.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time, and will let you know if we are unable to provide access for a lawful reason.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.
